There is a Tutorial for those wishing to learn how to utilize their HD Nav System to its fullest. This applies to the HD Boom 6.5 GTS and the newer Skyline System. The earlier Boom 6.5 GT Nav system would require some additional steps and the use of a 32GB Flashdrive formated to FAT32 to get the GPX file into the nav system. Those steps are not included as of yet but will be added soon.

GOOGLE MAPS TO HARLEY DAVIDSON RIDE PLANNER CONVERSION

The instructions look cumbersome, but in reality once you have the steps mastered the time to complete the entire process take less than 10 minutes. Deciding on your Google maps route can take the most time to complete! You can do the route planning on the HD Ride Planner Program but you do not have the ability to access street view. The HD Maps are not easy to work with as you must be very careful when placing way points, they must be perfectly centered on the orange route line!

1. PREREQUSITES

   1. Harley Davidson Ride Planner Subscription (FREE) (Pin to the Google Chrome
      Favorites Bar)

      1. Link: Harley-Davidson Ride Planner

      2. If you do not already have a SIGN IN click on the “Join In” Bar and provide the required information. It is Free with no obligation.

      3. Add the HD Ride Planner App to your smart phone as it will link seamlessly with the HD Boom 6.5 GTS and the new Skyline HD Navigation/Radio Systems.

   2. Google Chrome Browser (Preferred, as you need Google Maps)

   3. MAPS2GPX Converter App (Pin to the Google Chrome Favorites Bar)

2. Start with Google Maps and keep all pages opened throughout this process

   1. DO NOT CLOSE THE PAGES JUST MINIMIZE
      THEM WHEN NOT BEING USED

   1. Create your Google maps route map with start location and
      ending location, drag the route as needed to personalize
      your route preference(s).
      Note: use Google maps Street view to insure you are
      not routing onto a dirt road, etc.

   2. Once you are satisfied with your route

   3. click on the URL at the top of the map page it will
      automatically highlight, right click and the file control
      menu will open click on copy

   4. Open a new google page and type the following URL in
      the address bar https://maps2gps.com/ and press the
      enter key (alternate you can click the the provided hyperlink to
      open the application)

   5. The Maps2GPS App will open

   6. You will see a box "Paste your Google Maps URL here"
      Place your mouse cursor in the box, right click and then
      click paste and press enter
      (the URL previously copied should have been retained, on the
      clipboard, provided you have not used the copy function while
      navigating numbers 3.1 through 3.6)

   7. click the convert button and if done correctly you will
      see "File Ready"!

   8. Click the “Download GPX” button and the converted
      map will be placed in your file explorer downloads folder

   9. Open The Harley-Davidson Ride Planner in a new
      Google Chrome window and sign in (you can click on the hyperlink
      to open the program)

   10. Once the HD Ride Planner opens click on "Create"

   11. On the left side of the screen locate and click on the
       Import GPX icon

   12. Your file explorer folder will open click on "Downloads"

   13. The right side of the file explorer will populate showing
       the latest downloads click (choose) the GPX file you just
       downloaded

   14. at the bottom right of the window click on the "open button"

   15. The import GPX window will open, click on the Import
       as a planned ride button

   16. The ride will be imported into your Ride Planner app, clear
       the Ride Imported window by clicking the "X" in the upper
       right of the window

   17. Your ride route will now display in the HD Ride Planner App

   18. on the Ride Planner Screen you can save the ride, click on
       "Save Ride"

   19. "Name your Ride" will open, Name the ride IE: Ride to Corkey
       Bells or Return from Corkey Bells depending upon the route
       of the map (One way routes are being assumed for this tutorial)

   20. Once saved the ride can be accessed on your smart phone through the HD Ride Planner App the HD Boom 6.5 GTS or the Skyline 12.3 nav systems once paired with your phone will display the route you created when you tap the “send to bike button” on your phone. You are ready to navigate to your destination!
